BIO
Edward McCormack is a classically trained composer based in Santa Monica, California. He has just finished scoring the BBC documentary Daley - Olympic Superstar, and is currently co-writing the score alongside David Buckley for Anurag Rudra's feature film New Me.
After graduating Berklee College of Music, Ed relocated to Los Angeles. Once there, Ed was introduced to composer Harry Gregson-Williams, who gave him his first gig in the film industry. Soon after, Harry introduced Ed to David Buckley, which began the start of a seven-year relationship that opened the doors to blockbuster feature films (including Jason Bourne and The Nice Guys) and premium TV shows (including The Good Wife, The Good Fight and The Gifted). Additionally, Ed has has worked with many other composers in Los Angeles, including Rupert-Gregson Williams (Wonder Woman, Abominable), and Mac Quayle (American Horror Story). He is also a regular contributor to Universal's UPM and Hans Zimmer's Bleeding Fingers.
Ed is equally at home writing music for the concert hall (having been tutored by Juilliard alumni for over a decade) as he is for the big screen. He has written music for many soloists (including Saul Bitran, first violinist of the multi-Grammy award winning Cuarteto Latinoamericano) and chamber ensembles (including the Emerson String Quartet).
Over the past four years, Ed has developed a strong creative relationship with director Cal Moreno. Cal and Ed have developed a unique way of telling stories, which has resulted in films in which the underscore plays an unusually important role in the narrative. One of their biggest successes is the short film Number 2, which features a highly unusual all-drums underscore that is deeply involved in the storyline. The film received awards at over seven major film festivals, including the 2020 Audience Award at Dances With Films, LA.
